A new monograph in Foundations and Trends in HCI by the Blended Realities Collective
Are you pursuing research in the area of mixed reality for distributed collaboration? This monograph is packed with orignal ideas for important research challenges to be solved and contributions to be made in order to pave the way for mixed reality to enter the modern distributed workplace.
The work is co-authored by Jens Emil Grønbæk, Adélaïde Genay, Andrew Irlitti, Brandon Victor Syiem, Jarrod Knibbe, Emily Wong, Tiare Feuchtner, Tinghui Li, Zhongyi Bai, and Eduardo Velloso.
We are strong believers in the power of face-to-face interactions. However, the demands of modern work rarely make it possible. Mixed reality might be the key to this – enabling face-to-face interactions over a distance – but there are still many barriers to overcome.

We are very proud of this work, which is the result of two productive workshops. A special thanks to all the participants of our ACM CHI ’25 workshop!
